For this project, I led a team of 4 to develop a web application called Helping Hand and a Google Chrome Extension using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, NodeJS, MongoDB, Express, and React. The goal of this project was to create a solution that bridged the gap that students and teachers faced with virtual learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Google Chrome Extension served as the user interface for a student to virtually "raise their hand" and the web app served as the user interface for the teacher to view and manage the students in the classroom that have "raised their hand".
As the Product Manager, I aided in the integration of an AGILE workflow to keep the team on track and to account for progress. As a result of this project, I further developed my leadership and development skills. Our team had to learn web development languages and tools on our own to complete this project. One of the most challenging aspects of this project was figuring out how to connect both the web application and the Google Chrome Extension to the same database on MongoDB. What I enjoyed most about this project was the rewarding feeling when our team got a feature or functionality to work.
The video above shows what the web application looks like for the teacher's user interface.
This video above demonstrates how a student would use the Google Chrome Extension to virtually "raise their hand".
